Scientific Interests:

• How do supermassive black holes regulate the star formation and gas content - the "circumgalactic medium" - of their host galaxies?

• What do the properties and number of clusters of galaxies reveal about the history and contents of the universe?

• How does hot, diffuse intergalactic gas eventually make galaxies and stars?

• What can we learn about the history of gas and heavy elements from how they are arranged inside of dark matter gravitational potential wells?

• Astronomical observations from the infrared through the X-ray wavelengths.

What I do for a living:

• Sciencing astronomy and astrophysics

• Teaching astronomy and astrophysics

• Authoring enhanced textbooks about astronomy

• Public talks about astronomy

• Public service for astronomy and science

What I do for fun:

• Run/wog with friends

• Play a 5-string bass guitar for GSB and Dr. Decade bands, cover songs & originals.

• Sightread any piano music, and if you wanna sing SHOW TUNES here we go

• Play Witcher 3. Favorite armor set: Grandmaster Ursine. Team Yen. I heart Roach.

• Movies, books, anime, TV series (usually with a fantasy vibe)
